About Tampa Cancer Center

Florida Cancer Specialists (“FCS”) was seeking a solution to the challenges associated with managing three smaller and aging offices in the Tampa market. After Patrick Marston and Andy Boggini completed a facility review and functional needs analysis, it was evident that in keeping with industry best practices, FCS needed to centralize operations and bring the entire continuum of cancer care under a single roof. The solution became the Tampa Cancer Center.

Optimal Outcomes acquired a site that was central to the existing FCS offices, near St. Joseph’s Hospital. The 2.7-acre site provides excellent visibility and access for patients and staff. Optimal designed the space as a Class-A, two-story, 36,000 SF cancer treatment center which includes medical oncology, molecular diagnostic laboratory, hematological pathology, imaging, radiation therapy, and research facilities. The facility is inclusive of 33 exam rooms, 59 infusion chairs, and 216 parking spaces. In addition to the wide array of clinical services, the facility offers patients a relaxing decor and environment with amenities such as wireless access, computers, LCD televisions, educational areas, classes, and counseling.

Through a unique ownership model, Optimal Outcomes provided FCS an option to participate in the ownership of the real estate upon completion of construction. The model appropriately places the risk and responsibility for the acquisition, development, construction, and long-term operation of the property with Optimal, while providing FCS with the benefits of real estate ownership.

Tampa Cancer Center was owned, professionally managed, and fully leased by Optimal Outcomes until 2017. The sale of this property and seven others to Healthcare Trust of America or “HTA” demonstrated the success of Optimal’s design, development, and property management of its projects. Today, the location is still under the property management of Optimal Outcomes.
